Why Miniature Dachshunds Make the Perfect Family Dog

If you've ever met a miniature dachshund, you already know: these little dogs have enormous personalities packed into a very small body.

At Hunt's Dachshunds in Bell, FL, we've been breeding miniature dachshunds for over 20 years.

They're Fiercely Loyal

Dachshunds were originally bred in Germany to hunt badgers — brave, determined, and deeply bonded to their people.

They're Great with Kids

Miniature dachshunds can be wonderful with children, especially when socialized from puppyhood.

They Adapt Well to Different Living Situations

Whether you live in a house with a big yard or a cozy apartment, a mini dachshund can thrive.

They Come in Beautiful Colors and Coats

Smooth coat, long coat, and wire coat varieties in colors from classic red to stunning dapple patterns and the rare Isabella.

They're Long-Lived Companions

With proper care, many miniature dachshunds live 12–16 years.
